He then avows to point them in the right direction and cuts them free of their bindings. . Puss then gives each Diablo a gold coin but Timmy swallows his, thinking his brother and sister were eating theirs. He's very brave and often the first to show it, with pride and bravado. Reluctantly accompanied by three cute little kittens called the Three Diablos, Puss must tame them before they endanger the mission. Although none of the nine Cannon Movie Tale films are flawless, with the flaws varying in number and size, all of them are worth a viewing at least once. But seeing their faces, he realizes they have no mama and are orphans.
Carmela Marner is a charming Princess Vera, and has a truly infectious smile, while Yossi Graber is entertainingly buffoonish as the King without resorting to mugging too much. The dialogue does descend into over-silliness sometimes, but is witty and genuinely hilarious, so it would be a lie if I said that I wasn't entertained. The best thing about Puss in Boots is the performance of Christopher Walken as Puss, the singing is not the best but he clearly looks as though he's having a whale of a time here and he is so much fun to watch, performing with sly line delivery, a wonderful twitchiness which is quite appropriate for a cat , fearless bravado and absolutely no signs of being embarrassed either. I know you want to play, But uh. They almost win but in the end are overwhelmed by Puss's innocent kitten eyes. Gonzalo - Is the tortoiseshell but was named for his scrappy temper, and the most brutal, shown when he tortured Puss the most out of his siblings, and threw sand into Puss's eyes.
Some parts are dimly or gaudily lit and the costumes are garish and seldom flattering, looking like leftover material, but worst of all were the very cheap and out-of-date-looking even for a film from the 80s special effects the Cannon film that fares the worst in this regard , especially the cat transformation and the under-sized ogre. And while Puss in Boots is one of their lesser outings with the weakest being The Emperor's New Clothes, and their best being Hansel and Gretel and Beauty and the Beast , it's not an exception. All in all, one of Cannon's weakest films but is still watchable for Walken's performance. They almost overwhelmed Puss this way of course they cheated with Gonzalo throwing sand in Puss' eyes but in the end Puss' cute stare dazed and overwhelmed them. The Diablos formed a loving bond with Puss, who became the closest thing they ever had to a real parent. The Diablos say goodbye to Puss and he leaves.
In the morning, the Diablos lead them to the Whisperer's hideout, and the thief promptly reveals himself, prompting the Diablos to hide in fear. The Whisperer manages to corner Puss but the Diablos save him with the same fighting techniques Puss trained them with, ending with the recovery of the ruby, and the Whisperer accidentally falling to his death. Even so, he's as capable of deviousness and torture as his brother and sister, though he's often smacked on the head to get his attention or led by his sister. With the rest of the performances, most of the rest of the supporting turns mug pretty embarrassingly, the ogre is more unintentionally comical than sinister coupled with his underwhelming look, he was one disappointing villain but worst of all was Jason Connery who spends the entire running time looking hopelessly bland and dim-witted and devoid of any charm, his and Marner's chemistry is dull while his and Walken's only just about passes muster because Walken does such a great job here. Puss, fooled by the Diablos' apparent cuteness and innocence, makes the mistake of underestimating them, and they chain him up with their manacles so they can get the key from him to free themselves.
And they are truly playful kittens at heart, seen when they played with Puss after he convinced them to be better than what they originally were, and like any kids, they love a good bedtime story. Puss in Boots has several major problems though. Their methods of torture are both playful and demeaning but nevertheless painful. Like Puss in Boots, they are capable of using a cute, wide-eyed expression to soften their foes' hearts, though they do it together for more effectiveness. Later we will all go out for fish sticks! Meanwhile Perla digs a hole. Otherwise, he just follows his brother and sister's lead. Produced by and Tripp Hudson.
Puss then proceeds to train them and play with them, becoming close to them, until finally he tells them a bedtime story until they fall asleep. Puss ties them up and as nightfalls, he states they should be ashamed and consider what their mama would think. As they start finding their way back to the Whisperer, they are confronted by Puss, who managed to dig himself free, and enter a hissing standoff before it becomes a battle between the innocent kitten look between Puss and the Diablos. Puss reveals he too is an orphan, and how led him down the wrong path the same way the Whisperer has led the Diablos. Personality Truthfully, the Diablos are just three little kittens who were led down the wrong path, but were pointed by Puss in the right direction.
Perla - The only girl among them, appears to be the leader, and keeps a close watch on her brothers, and while she's very devious being the one who came up with the idea to bury Puss alive , she's really a sweet little one, and is the one with creamy gold and white fur and in red pinkish boots. The Diablos prays to the funereal and Perla and Gonzalo high five together. After becoming friends with Puss, he trained them to fight like him, and use his techniques, including his trademark aerial cartwheel jump, and possibly in swordsmanship, as they were each given wooden swords. The songs here are forgettable at best, some also go on for too long- feeling more like padding than anything else- and some of the lyrics are so dreadfully silly that they're enough to make one cringe, like the rhyming lyrics in the song offering marriage advice. While the incidental score is good, Puss in Boots does boast one of Cannon's weakest song scores, with only those for The Emperor's New Clothes being worse. For one thing, apart from the photography and the sets the low budget does show and it is generally one of Cannon's cheaper looking films.
It was directed by and features as the voice of the title character. The film is nicely photographed, the sets are nice and rustic if somewhat recycled of other Cannon films and the incidental score has the right amount of energy and whimsy. Realizing the Diablos had betrayed him, the Whisperer proceeds to threaten them, only for Puss to raise his sword in their defense and tells them to run. Sir Timoteo Montenegro the Third and Gonzalo keeps smacking Puss. The key lands on Puss' ear and the Diablos unlock the cuffs and takes off their mittens.
The short tells a story of Puss in Boots on a mission to recover a princess' stolen ruby from the notorious French thief the Whisperer. Afterwards they proceed to playfully torture Puss in several painful and demeaning ways, and end it by literally burying Puss alive. In the end, Puss returns the ruby to the princess and is rewarded, at which point he presents the princess with the Diablos as her new personal guards, which is met with mixed results but still accepted. Abilities The Three Diablos are three crafty, sneaky, devious, and somewhat sadistic kittens. With the story, the basic details and characters are here but they didn't feel quite enough to sustain a feature length film, padding it out with forgettable and sometimes overlong songs and scenes that got too silly i. Description At first, the Three Diablos seem like cute and innocent kittens, but looks can be deceiving. .
